Abstract

Differential channel pulse slimming is provided for the read signal of hard disk file channels. In the figure, RO and R2 are the resistance of coil L, and the amplifier output resistance, respectively. This implementation of a pulse slimmer has two distinct and important advantages. 1. The component count of two resistors, two inductors, two capacitors and one differential amplifier (e.g., a 592 wideband differential amplifier) is a minimum component, minimum card space implementation for a differential channel. 2. This implementation results in signal amplification rather than signal attenuation.
