Flex Circuit Wrap Connector

A flex circuit is wrapped around an insert disposed within a plug for connection to a printer, for example.

A Mylar based flex circuit 1 is mounted on a molded insert 2 by being wrapped around an extending portion 3 of the insert 2 and retained thereon through pins 4 of the insert 2 being disposed within openings 5 in the ends of the flex circuit 1. should be understood that there are two of the pins 4 on the bottom side of the extending portion 3 of the insert 2 for cooperation with the two openings 5 at the bottom end of the flex circuit 1.

After the flex circuit 1 is mounted on the extending portion 3 of the insert 2, the extending portion 3 of the insert 2 is disposed within a molded housing 6, which may be a plug, for example. The housing 6 may be connected to a printer as a diagnostic tool through the flex circuit 1 having appropriate circuitry thereon.
