Abstract

When one requestor of multiple requestors detects an error requesting data from a storage element, the requestor that detects the error will generally retry its request for data. In the meantime, the storage element can timeout the other requestors. It is preferable for the storage element to allow other requestors to maintain their requests outstanding. When and if the first requestor is successful, the other requestors will be serviced and proceed. If the first requestor is not successful, hang detectors for the remaining requestors will handle the hung requests.
