Error Correction Using Multiple Retrys

This procedure will reduce the time it takes to correct errors when multiple words are in error in a mass transfer of data.

If six words are in error in a transfer of sixteen data words, the memory corrects the errors in the first transferred word with errors and tells the requestor of the data that a total of six words have errors. The requestor then refetches the data words involved in the central transfer five times, one for each of the uncorrected words initially transmitted. On each refetch, the error correcting code corrects one word so that after five transmissions of the data, all six words have been corrected.
