Abstract

This article describes a modification to the CMOS XOR originally published by J. S. Hildebeitel in the IBM Technical Disclosure Bulletin, 27, 4B, 2639 (September 1984). That article describes a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) exclusive-OR (XOR) function using a minimum device count. This article discloses a modification that corrects the problem for the input combination of a=b=0, described therein. Three extra transistors have been added to the circuit. The new circuit is illustrated in the figure. It maintains a minimum device count and significantly lower power consumption.
