Abstract

The programmability functions of a copier are set by the copier's Key Operator. In this way, certain operating parameters of the copier tailor the copier to the needs of the individual customer's environment. The following copier functions can be selectively enabled or inhibited: Copy Set Offsetting, Reduce 2 Copy Width, Key Operator Phone Number, Timeout Period, Copy Count Limit, Stapler Capacity, Top Exit Bin Capacity, and Beeper. This copier includes a cathode ray tube (CRT) upon which the menu of Fig. 1 is displayed by the Key Operator pushing an appropriate control panel button. Push PGM to end The copier's control feature indicators and the control panel's numeric LED (light-emitting diode) display are both blank when the screen of Fig. 3 is displayed. If the Key Operator at this time pushes the control panel's "PGM" key, control returns to the Key Operator Functions menu of Fig. 2. The method of viewing the present status of the Operating Parameters is the same as for changing them. To only view a parameter, the Key Operator simply accesses it as though to change it, and simply does not change it.
