Abstract

In a high speed digital data communication system using the TDM (Time Division Multiplexer) connected as in Fig. 1, the TDM is provided with an intelligence to perform a function that automatically changes the transmission speed and the line configuration change time of the communication lines with the line control data being set up at the installation time and/or anytime thereafter. The intelligent TDM is configured as in Fig. 2. The typical dynamic time slot change operation for changing the communication speed is as follows: 1.
