The device as shown in the figures is a protective covering or bobbin which is placed over the "C" bar or cover piece of a magnetic transducer head prior to coil winding.

As shown in Fig. 1, the blank is die cut from film stock that is from 0.002 to
0.004 inches thick. The film may be Mylar, polycarbonate, polymide or other suitable insulating film material. The blank is thereafter formed into the shape show Fig. 2 which is then ready for mounting over the transistor cover piece prior to coil winding. The forming operation would be cold forming with Mylar whereas heat forming would be utilized with polycarbonate or polymide. The cut 3 and circle 4 strain relief shown in Fig. 1 would not be necessary when heat forming is to be used since the material would be stretched to conform to the desired shape.
