Line Spacing Overrun Recovery

A method is described to adjust the platen to proper location to prevent subsequent lines and pages in the document from being incorrectly aligned on the paper.

Due to the size of some character patterns, sometimes the platen must be rotated further down the page (to print the remainder of the character) than specified by the current line- spacing command. If this is not adjusted, all subsequent printing will be misaligned on the pa

In accordance with the new method, a running total is kept of where the platen should be, based on line spacing commands, vs. where it actually is, due to printing the characters. On each line feed, the line spacing is adjusted to return the platen back to the proper location on the paper.

Even if a character printing forces an overrun of the line spacing, the rest of the page and document are not affected.
