Abstract

A high voltage potential 2 is connected between a heater wire 4 and a conductive plate 6. A low AC voltage is applied across heater wire 4 to heat the wire to a red glow. The corona developed by potential source 2 directs heat by means of heated corona wind from wire 4 to plate 6. This directional heating is utilized to improve the efficiency of an operation for fusing image toner 8 to copy sheet 10 as sheet 10 is moved across plate 6.
