Abstract

The use of an extended base region 10 in a current switch emitter-follower output transistor 12 reduces the size of the current switch circuit. The base region 10 functions as the collector resistor 14 to input transistors 16 and 18 as well as the base of transistor 12 so that no additional chip area is required for the collector resistor 14 thus enabling a considerable saving in chip area.
