Abstract

Drawing A shows a structure for mounting a circuit card 2 on a circuit board 3. Semiconductor chips 4 are mounted on the card 2 with appropriate wiring between the chips. The card 2 is bonded to a housing 6. Frame 8 is adapted to receive the housing 6 and is bonded to the circuit board 3. As shown in C, stationary contacts 10 are etched and formed onto a tab frame 16. Similarly, flexible contacts 14 are etched onto a similar tab frame 16. The contacts 10 are supported on frame 8 and are connected to printed wiring outputs 12 on the board 3, whereupon selvedge edges 32 of the tab frame 16 are removed. Similarly, flexible contacts 14 are attached to the circuit card 2. The contacts 14 are then connected to card wiring outputs 28 whereupon selvedge edges 32 of the tab frame 16 are removed.

The housing 6 carrying the circuit card is inserted into the frame 8. A tool 20 is provided for plugging the device and is held to the housing 8 by means of screws 22, 24. By turning the nut 26, the housing 6 is urged into the frame receptacle 8 and the contacts 14 and 10 are brought together. Impedance matching can be achieved by providing insulators 30 between contacts 10 and 14 and circuit ground layers contained in card 2 and frame 8.
