Abstract

The feed mechanism for a drill employed to drill holes in printed circuit stock should be controlled in steps when the holes are deep (e.g. depths of nine times drill diameter). A cam 1 is designed with progress projections 2, 3, ... to control penetration of the drill to a progressive series of empirically predetermined stock depths at each position of the drill locating table. Between operations of the drill to successive depths, the drill is withdrawn allowing for chip clearance.
