Magnetic Head

Laminated magnetic read/write heads are mechanically held together by a fastener which also completes the magnetic circuit.

Conductive coils are photolithographed on a nonconductive base, covered with an insulator, and sandwiched between two magnetic layers. A separate gap material determines the gap width. The entire sandwich is mechanically fastened by a rivet, bolt and nut, etc., which passes through each coil's center and completes the magnetic path between the rear and front magnetic circuits.

Any number of heads can be formed by using strips of laminate.
