Abstract

This tool allows safe handling of fabricated can-mounted field effect transistors 10 having external pins 11 by providing novel grounding means to eliminate electrostatic charge damage to gate dielectrics. The handler consists of a plier-like body having moveable jaws 1 and 2 of the following construction. A soft rubber liner 3 covered completely by pliable shielding 4 is mounted in jaws 1 and 2 by spot welding at various points, indicated typically at 5. The shielding provides a discharge path from the transistor pins to the body of the handler. A grounding strap 6 is provided to maintain the handler at ground potential.
