Abstract

The following alloy composition retains the unique forming capability and utility of superplastic zinc-22 aluminum material, with significant reduction of the tendency to creep under constant stress at room temperature. Aluminum 22% Copper 0.42% Magnesium 0.002% Zinc Balance. This alloy can be processed similarly to zinc-22 aluminum with a forming stress less than twice the forming stress of the basic alloy while attaining a creep resistance many times greater than the basic alloy and four times greater than a commercial zinc die casting.
