Abstract

This bubble splitter consists of a permalloy T-bar and an I-bar pattern arranged so as to cause the bubble to split when subjected to a rotating magnetic field. In the diagrams, the bubbles and the field orientations are correspondingly numbered to show how the bubble changes position with the different orientations of the rotating magnetic field. As the field orientation changes from the one to the two direction, the bubble tends to expand as shown in B, because it is attracted to two similarly poled elements that are equally distant from a pole of the opposite polarity. As the direction of the field continues to change towards the fourth orientation the elongation of the bubble continues until the bubble splits due to excessive stretching, as shown in D.
