Fire Retardant Rubber Cement

A flame-retardant rubber cement is provided. X rubber cement is dissolved in a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent such as FREON-11*. The solvent should have a boiling point of 60 degrees C or lower.

A satisfactory composition is one comprising from 1% to 99% of the rubber cement to 99% to 1% by volume of the solvent.

A preferred composition is comprised of 50% rubber cement and 50% solvent by volume. * Trademark of E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co.
