Abstract

The slitting device comprises one or more solid, cylindrically shaped blades 1, preferably sapphire, mounted so that each blade is slightly offset but engages another blade 2. The blades are spring-loaded against each other. Material 3 to be slit is run through the slitter as in a conventional roll-shear slitter, but the blades are not rotated.
