Abstract

This device for use in a manually operable keyboard comprises a keytop 1, a shaft 2 connecting the keytop and a spring 3 surrounding the shaft to mechanically biasing the keytop. Disposed below shaft 2 is a magnetic core 4 having thereon activation and output windings 5 and 6, respectively. A signal source 7 impresses a signal on the activation winding. A source of magnet flux biases the core into saturation. A shunt 9 mounted on the shaft 2 reduces the core saturation by providing a low reluctance flux path upon the keytop being urged toward the core, thereby increasing the mutual coupling between the activation and output windings.
