Document Hold Down Device

A document cover as described in U. S. Patent 3,539,238 is provided with an improved hold-down device 10 having a stiffly flexible metallic spring sheet portion 11 and a resilient flexible portion 12. Spring portion 11 is anchored at its rear end to a bracket 13 carrier by a travelling carriage 14. A free end support bracket 15 is connected to the forward end of flexible portion 12 and includes a loop part 16 that is connected to the pivotal document cover not shown herein by hook 17.

In use, the resiliency of spring 11 urges large documents such as a book 18 tightly against a copy window 19 on the travelling carriage 14 so as to prevent slippage thereof during carriage travel.
