Abstract

The drawing shows an improved shift register formed on an orthoferrite wafer 2. Conductive loops 3 and 4 illustrate a series of similar pairs of loops. The loops are sequentially energized to shift a bubble 5 from the region of loop 4 to the region of loop 3. The shift register includes small, round dimples 6 formed in the surface of the wafer. A bubble is trapped between two pairs of dimples until the loops are energized to drive the bubble to the next position. The positions formed by the dimples are offset from the loops so that a bubble is nearer to the next loop in the sequence than to the preceding loop in the sequence. This arrangement assures that the bubbles will be propagated in the selected direction.
