Background

      Conventionally, users who seriously play video games (gamers) upgrade their computers with high-end hardware and lights. To show off their gear, they purchase clear side-panel enclosures. Gamers like to depict the modifications to their computers to make them look “extreme.”

      Fluorescent or phosphorescent legend ink is not conventionally available from PCB suppliers.

Description

      The disclosed method is the use of fluorescent or phosphorescent ink for legends, branding, or artwork on motherboards or add-in cards targeted for gamers. Marketing logos or other text is included with the reference designations applied to boards and cards are inked with phosphorescent or florescent legend ink to enable gamers to show off their hardware. The enhancements are provided in colors matching or contrasting colored enclosures.

      The phosphorescent or florescent legend ink is applied using the same process as conventional silkscreen legend ink. After application, the ink can be cured thermally or by ultraviolet light.
