Abstract

A vibratory apparatus comprises a lever 10 mounted by Pivot 11 on frame 12. Arm 13 of lever 10 is oscillated at high frequencies by a pair of air-horn transducers 14 & 15 mounted on frame 12. Arm 16 of lever 10 is connected to an output mechanism, shown generally at 17 for imparting vibratory motion to a mass of material such as solder or the like.

A vibratory apparatus comprises a lever 10 mounted by Pivot 11 on frame
12. Arm 13 of lever 10 is oscillated at high frequencies by a pair of air-horn transducers 14 & 15 mounted on frame 12. Arm 16 of lever 10 is connected to an output mechanism, shown generally at 17 for imparting vibratory motion to a mass of material such as solder or the like.

Air-horn transducer 14 is a conventional air horn comprising a driving coil 18, a flexible diaphragm 19, and plunger 20 slidably mounted within bearing of a cone 21. Plunger 20 has one end piece 22 which abuts against the seat 23 on diaphragm 19 and a second end piece 24 having a tapered end for engaging arm 13 of arm 10 in notch 25. A leaf spring 26, having a tapered cross section, is anchored to posts 27 & 28 on the cover of transducer 14 and is attached to end piece 24 so as to be flexed by reciprocatory displacement of plunger 20.

Identically, air-horn transducer 15 comprises a driving coil, a flexible diaphragm, and plunger 29 slidable within cone 30. Plunger 29 is in abutment with a seat of an internal diaphragm, while end piece 31 has a tapered edge for engaging the other edge of arm 13 of lever 10 in notch 32. A leaf spring 33 also having a tapered cross section and anchored to posts 34 & 35 on the case of transducer 15, is attached to end piece 31 so as to be flexed by displacement motion of plunger 29.
