Abstract

In testing semiconductor modules, the modules are conveyed from an unloader through a gravity feed to a rotary turntable where they are tested and sorted according to the results of the tests. In A, turntable 1 rotates in a clockwise direction, as shown by the arrow, through a plurality of stationary stations. Modules are loaded into nests 2 (in B) at load station 3. Spring loaded links 4 under turntable 1 provide a platform to carry a module 5 after indexing, leaving load station 3. The spring action of link 4 forces module 5 in the slot out to the extreme perimeter of turntable 1.

In testing semiconductor modules, the modules are conveyed from an unloader through a gravity feed to a rotary turntable where they are tested and sorted according to the results of the tests. In A, turntable 1 rotates in a clockwise direction, as shown by the arrow, through a plurality of stationary stations. Modules are loaded into nests 2 (in B) at load station 3. Spring loaded links 4 under turntable 1 provide a platform to carry a module 5 after indexing, leaving load station 3. The spring action of link 4 forces module 5 in the slot out to the extreme perimeter of turntable 1.

In rotating, turntable 1 passes to aligning and pin straightening station 6, device presence sensing station 7 and then to test stations 8, 9. Test stations 8, 9 contain pass through sockets of the air actuated type. With the spring action forcing a module 5 outwardly, penetration of the air socket is accomplished. Unloading or sorting the modules out of the turntable is accomplished by interposer mechanisms 10, 11 in the first two sort stations 12, 13. In the last sort station 14, stationary cam 15 is introduced into the path of the turntable as it indexes. The action of the interposers and stationary cam moves link 4 from under module 5 releasing it and gravity dropping it into a desired sort category.
