Abstract

A bearing assembly 10 is mechanically locked to a cylindrical opening 15 in a housing 11 by providing an annular groove 12 in the outer peripheral surface of the bearing assembly, in which a neoprene retaining ring 13 is received prior to assembly. Assembly is effected by slip fitting the bearing assembly into the prepared cylindrical opening 15 with the retaining ring 13 providing interference. The outer race is then prevented from rotating.
