Abstract

Shown is an adjustable core structure 1 for a ferroresonant transformer adapted to alter the output voltage of a ferroresonant regulator. Primary winding 2 is positioned on primary portion 3 of center leg 4 and secondary winding assembly 5 embraces secondary portion 6 of center leg 4. Outer leg portions 7 and 8 and center leg portion 4 are joined by top and bottom end portions 9 and 10. Intermediate primary and secondary portions 3 and 6, center leg 4 has laterally extending shunt portions 11 and 12 adapted and arranged to form by-pass magnetic paths including "air" gaps 13 and 14 filled with nonmagnetic material to provide mechanical rigidity to the structure.

A slide member 15, which is adjustable between positions shown in full and phantom line, is provided to reduce the limiting cross-section of the secondary portion 6 of center leg 4 from the full width value, indicated at 16, to a reduced value, shown at 17, as slide member 15 is withdrawn from the core structure. The movement of slide member 15 is canted with respect to the axes of the center leg. A clamp arrangement 18, 19 is provided to clamp slide member 15 in any adjusted position.
