Folding Safety and Acoustic Hood

A folding safety and acoustic hood for printers is shown.

In a standard printer during printing, folding dust cover 1 is in the position shown in Fig. 1 and serves as a paper guide, and, as shown in Fig. 2, when the printer is not in use serves as a cover for the top of the printer to cover platen 2, paper bail 3, and the top of printer enclosure 11. With cover and paper guide 1 in the position shown in Fig. 1, a folding acoustic and safety hood is provided which is supported by paper bail 3 and printer enclosure 11. The acoustic enclosure includes support 4 for plate 5 which is connected about pivot rod 8 to L-shaped portion 10. A torsion spring, not shown, is used in conjunction with pivot rod 8 and stops 7 and 9 to maintain the hood in the position shown. When cover 1 is closed, as shown in Fig. 2 folding of the hood about pivot rod 8 takes place when post 6 is contacted by cover 1.
