Frame for Paper Feed Rolls

A paper feed roll support is constructed as a unit for assembly and adjustment, independent of the machine to which it will be attached.

"A" frame 1 is supported at each end by side frames 2, constituting the basic frame of the assembly. Transfer arm 3 is pivoted at one end about left-to-right adjustable screw shaft 4 and carries cradle 5 at its other end. Cradle 5 is pivotally mounted at 6 and supports the front feed rolls 7 and rear feed rolls 8. Feed rolls 7 and 8 are held in constant contact with platen 9 by the urging of spring 10. Pivotal motion of the front feed roll 7 is limited to a distance of 0.008" by engagement of feed roll pin shafts 13 with the upper surfaces of transfer arms
3. Paper release is accomplished by mechanism, not shown, controlled from a manual control lever, also not shown, which rotates shaft 11 counterclockwise, carrying with it the bellcrank 12, which is fixed to the shaft 11. Bellcrank extension 14 then pushes down on the transfer arm 3, thus carrying the feed rolls 7 and 8 down and away from the platen 9.
