Abstract

Metal roll 10 and deformable backup roll 11 engage opposite surfaces of paper 12, the upper surface of which is an image made of thermoplastic powder. Heat source 13 heats roll 10 to fuse the thermoplastic powder on copy paper 12. Any tendency for the thermoplastic powder to stick to the roll 10 is minimized by providing the roll 10 with a surface of fluorinated ethylene propylene, and by applying a thin layer of liquid fluoroether oil 14 by applicator roll 15 to the surface of the heated roll 10.
