Abstract

In order to decrease the tolerance buildup, a hemispherically-shaped portion 10 is machined into the body 11 of a magnetic head-carrying slider. Since the load is applied to the slider through a flat load pin I2, the actual load point is determined by the ability to locate the center 14 of the portion 10 with respect to an edge 15. The tolerances on this center are quite small and are not related to the load pin.
