Rotating Lens Photoprinter

A photoprinter incorporates a rotating wedge lens located intermediate a columnated-light source and a transparent character font, for selectively projecting character images onto a light-sensitive media.

A modulated laser beam 11 passes a rotatable wedge lens 13 and is refracted to a unique character 15 on character font 17, depending upon the degree of rotation previously imparted to lens 13. The laser beam passes through the transparent portion of character font 15 and is reflected by flat mirror 18 to a light-sensitive media 19. Each character on character font 17 has a mirror 18 associated therewith. Media 19 is moving at constant velocity in the direction of arrow 21. Each mirror displaces its character image slightly from the one preceding it, to compensate for media motion during the time interval that the beam is moved from the home position (letter "A") to the selected character.
