Sheet Paper Feed System

A compact sheet paper feed system utilizes a telescoping paper guide path and a collapsible edge aligner, to feed sheets from the top of a stack of sheets which decreases in height.

Rotatable picker 1 follows paper stack 2 down as the paper stack height decreases. Picker 1 is kept in correct orientation relative to paper stack 2 by vertical guide slots 3, and maintains uniform pressure on top of paper stack 2 throughout its vertical travel by pulley-weight suspension system 4, 5. Picker 1 is driven through shaft 6 causing topmost sheet of paper stack 2 to move over restraint belt 7, through telescoping paper chute 8 to the fixedly located transport belts 9. Stack aligner 10 keeps the forward edge of paper stack 2 properly aligned and moves in a downward direction, as the height of paper stack 2 is reduced. To prevent a side-to-side height difference on paper aligner 10, dual racks 11 are attached to side guide slots 3 and gear 12 is placed on each rack and attached to common shaft 13. Crossbar aligners 14 slide in slots 15 and 16 as the height of paper stack 2 is reduced.
