Abstract

Document 10 in a stack is fed by picker roll 11 when the roll is pivoted downwardly by mechanism, not shown to drive the sheet past front shield 12 and into the nip of feed rolls 13, 14. The document 10 is carried by reversing roller 15 to conveyor 16, which positions the document on exposure window 17 and against aligning stops 18. The bottom surface A of document 10 is now presented for copying. If it is desired to copy an image from the upper surface B of the document 10, conveyor 16 is reversed and selector vane 21 is moved to feed document 10 rightwards into reversing path 19 and again around reversing roller 15. When document 10 is free of conveyor 16, the conveyor is again reversed to feed the document to aligning stop 18 with surface B facing window 17.

Document Feed

When document 10 is free of conveyor 16, the conveyor is again reversed to feed the document to aligning stop 18 with surface B facing window
17.

After surface B is copied, conveyor 16 is driven rightwardly and the document 10 is fed around reversing roller 15. When document 10 is free of conveyor 16, the conveyor 16 is reversed and stops 18 are retracted to feed the document 10 onto eject tray 20 with surface A facing down. A stack of original documents will thus be maintained in proper order. When only one surface of a document is to be copied, the document is fed directly onto window 17 and then out to tray 20.
