Low Cost Low Resistance Quick Disconnect Connector

The connector permits a high density of connections which provide the characteristics of low resistance and quick disconnect.

Fig. 1 shows one connector, plug 1 and socket 2. The plug 1 is of the shape shown and has conductors 3 and 4 in the outer portion of its side. Key 5 acts as a guide and provides isolation between conductors 3 and 4. The socket 2 is housed in a shroud 6, which acts as a guide for plug 1 and as a cover for the connector. The socket has conductor 3' and 4' which makes contact with conductors 3 and 4 when the plug 1 is inserted in socket 2. Slot 7 in socket 2 engages Key 5 and insures that the plug is in the proper orientation within socket
2.

Any number of connectors as shown in Fig. 1 may be stacked to form a multiplug connector, such as shown in Fig. 2. It should be noted that the number of connections made is twice the number of individual connectors contained in the stack.
