Abstract

Shown is a sliding sleeve for use with magnetic tape capstans, for example. The sleeve 1, aligned longitudinal to the rotation axis, is moved via a linkage 2 connected to the sleeve, axially along capstan 3. Actuation of the linkage is by, for example, a motor 4 such as a voice-coil motor. Actuation occurs in response to guidance or servo-signal means for head/tape alignment, not shown. Motor 5 drives capstan 3.
