Abstract

Controlled drag is applied to shaft 10 by coil spring 11, which is connected at its one end 12 to a stationary mounting member 13 that is connected to frame part 14 by screw 15. A cover assembly 16 is also mounted on frame 14 by bracket 17. The free end 18 of coil spring 11 receives a bracket portion 19 of an elongated leaf spring 20. Leaf spring 20 is flexed by an adjustable amount through pivoted bracket 21, to place a spring load on coil spring 11 to determine its initial wrap force on arbor 22 which is connected to shaft 10 for rotation therewith. The drag applied by coil spring 11 to shaft 10, thus is adjustable by the position of bracket 21.
