Abstract

The assembly 3 includes a lever 4 which is biased in a counterclockwise direction about the stationary axis of pin 5 by tension spring 6. As shown, idler 7, carried by lever 4, applies tension to belt 8 which is also trained over idlers 10 and about drum 11.

Quick Release Belt Tightening Device

The assembly 3 includes a lever 4 which is biased in a counterclockwise direction about the stationary axis of pin 5 by tension spring 6. As shown, idler 7, carried by lever 4, applies tension to belt 8 which is also trained over idlers 10 and about drum 11.

A toggle lever 13 pivots at one end about the stationary axis of pivot pin 14, and adjacent the opposite end carries a pin 15 that rides in the slot 17 of lever 4. When toggle lever 13 is pivoted over center in a counterclockwise direction from the position shown, pivot pin 15 engages the end surface 18 of slot 17 to hold lever 4 against the biasing force of spring 6 and retains idler 7 away from a position of tensioning engagement with belt 8.
