Automatic Plate Loader

This loader automatically and sequentially delivers a plurality of glass plates to a holder for art work generation or wafer exposure.

Glass plates are stored in stacked relation in cassette 1. Workpiece holder 2 is coupled to cassette 1 by transfer runway 3. An elevator 4 driven by motor 8 sequentially moves the cassette 1 and thus the individual plates to an unload position.

Unloading of the plates from cassette 1 is accomplished by a steel tape 6 provided with spring grippers 7. Tape 6 is contained in drum 8 when in the retracted position and is driven by motor 9. To unload a plate from cassette 1, tape 6 is extended and grippers 7 transport the plate across runway 3 to holder
2. Air forced pins 10, 11, 12 hold the plate in position on holder 2 during the art work generation or wafer exposure. Air cylinders 13, 14 retain the glass plates during the load and unload operations, respectively.
