Abstract

A 10 mil diameter jet of air from a nozzle 10 directed at a plastic typewriter ribbon 12, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, impacts the ribbon against a document 14, which is backed by a platen 16 and produces a dot 20. The jet can be moved in one direction and the document in the other to produce a matrix of dots for printing characters or symbols.

There are no wear problems and no ink clogging. The air jet can be directed to print symbols of any kind.
