The switching speed of the TRUE and COMPLEMENT outputs of this circuit deteriorates rapidly as the cutoff frequency, f(T), decreases.

The circuit in the drawing improves the switching speed, especially at low f(T). Improved switching speeds at low f(T) is important, since f(T) is variable which is often lowered due to changes in manufacturing processes.

This gain in speed is achieved because the bases of transistors T2 and T3 are connected in parallel with the collector of T1. The true output is taken from the collector of T4 and the complement output from the collector of T2.
