Abstract

A stripping solution for polyester urethane is made by modifying UNRESOLVE HF, a commercial product of Dynalog, Inc., by the addition of a swelling agent and diluent. An example of a formulation, by weight, is as follows: 49.3% UNRESOLVE HF 26.5% Ethylene glycol monomethyl ether 24.2% Methylene chloride.

Stripping Solution for Polyester Urethane

A stripping solution for polyester urethane is made by modifying UNRESOLVE HF, a commercial product of Dynalog, Inc., by the addition of a swelling agent and diluent. An example of a formulation, by weight, is as follows:
49.3% UNRESOLVE HF 26.5% Ethylene glycol monomethyl ether 24.2% Methylene chloride.

Due to differences in solubility, the direct addition of the swelling agent, methylene chloride, causes the inorganic base of UHRESOLVE HF to precipitate out of solution. By adding the ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, the base concentration is decreased and the base is kept in solution and is stable for several weeks. Because of the base dilution, attack on metals is minimized.
