Stripping Solution for Polyester/Isocyanate Adhesive

A rapid thorough stripping solution for cured polyester/isocyanate adhesive is made by adding a strong swelling agent to a polar solvent. A formulation, by weight, found to be highly effective is: 45.6% N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone 51.6% Ethylene glycol monomethyl ether 2.8% Potassium hydroxide.

The formulation is operable at room temperature and has a working life of ten to twelve weeks. It will attack some metals such as lead.
