Scan Converter Multiplexing System

A recording storage tube is used as a translation device or interface between a data source and one or more relatively inexpensive raster scanned terminal display devices.

The storage screen 10 of the scan convertor is divided into a plurality of image areas, for example, four quadrants. In each of the quadrants respective different images are written which are destined for four terminals. The storage screen is read by a reading beam scanning the total width thereof in a raster scan. A spatial multiplexing arrangement transmits to each of the terminals the respective images to be received thereby.

The sync signals for the reading beam is the recording storage tube and those for the terminals can be arranged so that two raster lines are provided for each terminal for one raster line in the storage tube.

With a noninterlaced scan in the terminals two fields are utilized per frame, whereas with an interlaced scan four fields are utilized per frame.
