Abstract

This pulse emitter provides an output which is not dependent on a high-angular velocity. A toothed wheel 1 of ferrous material is affixed to the shaft 2 which is to be monitored. Wheel 1 is positioned for rotation in close proximity to a magnetic yoke 3. A Hall effect sensor 4 is included in magnetic yoke 3. Permanent magnet 5 is also included in magnetic yoke 3.

Hall Effect Impulse Emitter

This pulse emitter provides an output which is not dependent on a high- angular velocity.

As wheel 1 rotates, the reluctance of the flux path including wheel 1 and yoke 3 changes as the teeth move into and out of alignment with the yoke. The resulting change in magnetic flux provides an output signal from Hall effect sensor 4.
