Abstract

A cartridge C for inked ribbon RI, includes drive rollers R covered with an elastomeric layer and grooved with grooves GR. Rollers R are positively driven by gears G. Stripping fingers F extend from walls W,W' of cartridge C at the periphery of rollers R, and extend into grooves GR to strip inked ribbon RI or plastic tape (memory media, etc.) from rollers R adjacent walls W,W'. Ribbon RI folds alternately in "sine-wave shape" with fold reversals occurring when ribbon RI hits stripper F. Rollers R overlap (0.010'') for compression gripping forces. Ribbon RI enters via guide slot GS and leaves via space between spring clip S and notch N in wall W.

Endless Fold Ribbon Cartridge

Curl of ribbon RI from slipping of rollers R is avoided by positive drive of both rollers R, to provide uniform reversal of folding at the end of each half-cycle of storage of ribbon RI.
