The artwork and documentation of contactor lead frames used in wafer and chip handlers for final test are generated with the same FORTRAN program by this process.

A designer describes a contactor beam in a horizontal position. Punch cards containing a point-by-point description by x, y coordinates as well as the angular increment of rotation or multiple angular increments of rotation, act as the input to the program. The program transforms the beam or beams to the appropriate position.

This is accomplished by first comparing the count in a point counter with the number of coordinate x, y pairs. If the count does not exceed the number of these pairs, the counter is incremented and a coordinate matrix is constructed. This process is continued until the count exceeds the number of coordinate pairs. The increment count is then compared with the angular increment of rotation, to determine if it exceeds the count. If it does exceed the count, the program is ended. If it does not exceed the count, the counter is incremented and another matrix is constructed. To draw the matrix, a plotter is employed which produces a master drawing suitable for documentation. The pattern is drawn by this plotter. After an etch factor is added, the data is also employed to operate a light table or plotter as an artwork master.
