Flexible Auger Toner Transport

A flexible auger located within a flexible tube, is utilized to transport finally divided toner particles from a first station to a second station within an office copying machine.

Flexible auger 11 is rotated by motor 13 to convey toner from toner bin 15 to developer unit 17. Flexible tube 19 encloses flexible auger 11, thereby keeping the toner confined within the tube as it moves from toner bin 15 to developer unit
17. The flexible auger and flexible tube enable the toner bin to be physically separated from the developer unit, the toner traveling over nonlinear paths around machine elements. The toner bin can thus be located in a position enabling ready operator access thereto for effecting toner replenishment, or it could be associated with the cleaning unit of a xerographic copying machine to transport toner collected by the cleaning station back to the developer or replenisher unit, to thereby effect reclamation of such toner for reuse.
