Self Aligning Inclined Paper Feed

A rotating semicircular deformable feed wheel aligns paper into a reference corner of a gravity feed paper chute.

Paper entered into chute 1 contacts constantly rotating elastic aligner wheel 3, which jogs the paper into position under wheel 3. Tip 5 deforms to push paper down toward paper gate 7 and horizontally toward side reference 9. Horizontal well 11, working in conjunction with wheel 3, compensates for different weights of paper. If light paper is inserted, wheel 3 causes it to deform into well 11, the resulting wrinkle giving the paper column stiffness preventing buckling of the paper as it is driven against reference 9. If heavy paper is inserted, it does not deflect into well 11 but causes wheel 3 to deflect an additional amount, thereby increasing the alignment force on the paper.
