Abstract

This filter is designed to prevent carbon dust (ground-up charcoal) from falling through the filter and potentially contaminating electronic systems. As the cross-sectional view of the filter shows, a granular media 1, specifically activated charcoal, is usually contained by an outer steel filter skin 2. An outer frame 3 and an inner frame 4 serve to support the edges of the filter. This filter has an additional inner liner of fiberglass mating 5 just inside the outer steel filter skin, to contain all dust particles within the filter.
